This year the West German championship was organised in Bad Neuenahr. Probably on this occasion, a match with Belgium was held. There were sixteen players in that tournament, of whom fourteen played in this match; only Scheipl and Schuster being absent. [1] gives the results, but claims the result was 6½-7½. In personal correspondence, Mr. Siebenhaar quotes [2] as giving 7½-26½ as the final result. Apparently, boards 15 to 34 were occupied by players from the Schachbund Mittelrhein who must have beaten their Belgian opponents with 2½-17½. [1] gives a few games but many more are missing.
