Surprisingly, the very strong Brussels team had two be contented with third place, scoring only half of all possible match points. Antwerp SK owed its victory in no small part to Perlmutter, who scored 100% on the second board. Note that L’Échiquier was based in Brussels. A different L’Échiquier existed in Liège, but didn’t participate this year. Het Schaakbord was an Antwerp team. In French newspapers, it is sometimes also referred to as L’Échiquier, since both Het Schaakbord and L’Échiquier mean the chessboard.
Here are the round-by-round results, insofar as I have them. I have tried to respect the the board order in the overview of individual scores given below. However, the exact board order would not always be deduced and is therefore tentative, especially so for the players who played but few games. Note that I don’t have the detailed results of the L’échiquier vs. Het Schaakbord encounter. Consequently, these results are not included.
