This tournament was played in the rooms of the Club d’Escacs Barcelona and got a very respectable field together. In the second round, Flohr had to concede a draw against Ribera. Thiss left him trailing behind Koltanowski, who was jut stringing victories together. In the penultimate round, however, the Czech grandmaster beat Koltanowski. A second draw in the last round was therefore still enough to net him the victory.

[1] gives all the games, the crosstable, the exact dates — pretty much everything one could want. It gives a very different move order in the last-round game Koltanowski — Reilly than most online databases. Koltanowski was editor of [1], so he presumably had his own score on hand. On the other hand, Koltanowski is rather infamous for historical inaccuracies,
