This tournament took place in the Palais du Midi, Van der Weydenstraat 9a on May 16-19 and 25-27. The games started at 14:00 and laster until 19:00 with adjourned games from 20:00 to 22:00 or, if necessary, from 10:00 to 12:00. The tempo was 40 moves in 2:30′ followed by 16 moves per hour.

The presence of a separate Elite group was new. It made for a rather strong tournament. Samy Rubinstein scored a surprising victory. With that, he qualified for the Belgian championship, but he didn’t want to play so Moulin and Pergericht went instead. Demoulin and Kesteloot qualified for next year’s elite group. The only games I have come from [2], except for the one game from the open section which, together with the crosstabe and results above, comes from [1]..

Wanted

  • Almost all games.
  • Many first names.
  • The crosstable for the open section.
