With 1860 participants, this was probably the largest correspondence tournament ever at this point in time. O’Kelly ended two points behind the winner, but still scored very well. He also won both the 1st (for his game against Barda) and 3rd (for his games against Nielsen) beauty prices. Rompteau won the 4th price for short games, for his game against Becker. The crosstables for the main group and Master class 7/M, as well as most most games, come from [1]. At least some moves from O’Kelly’s game against Napolitano comes from [2]. Napolitano fell in an opening trap, but it’s not clear whether he resigned immediately or not. The crosstable of the 11/M Master class section comes from [3].
Warning!
I found some (fragments of) games in my database, but forgot to note the source.
