Next to the championship of the British Chess Federation, which was won by Sultan Khan, and there were several other tournaments. The most important of these was the Major Open, in which foreigners could participate. Koltanowski won this section convincingly, before the women’s world champion Menčíková. blind youngster and later law professor Cross, the cosmopolitan master Seitz, and a bunch of lesser local stars.
