There were 32 players, who were seeded into 4 preliminary sections. The winners of these, 3 Belgians and a single Dutchman, played the semi-finals. The final was a fully Belgian affair and was apparently over in 8 minutes. After Dunkelblum in 1956 and 1957 and Van Schoor in 1958, Boey scored the fourth Belgian victory in as many editions.
