Even though De Bruycker had won the Belgian junior championship, for some reason Wostyn was sent to the world junior championship for the second time. He didn’t have much success, and ended 27th out of 28 players. The biggest surprise was probably that Hort failed to qualify for the A-final after losing to Zuidema in the last round. He then withdrew from the tournament. That Schmidt ended up in the C final is perhaps also unexpected, but he was seeded in perhaps the strongest qualification group. Yugoslavian Parma won the tournament by defeating his main rival Gheorghiu in the penultimate round. The games come from [1], the crosstable from [2], the dates from [3].
