77 players started in the preliminaries and one more (Adam) was immediately admitted to the final in recognition of his pre-war results. [2] gives four games. The remaining one (Frutsaert-Collins) comes from [3]. [2] has that game too, but claims it is from the European correspondence championship, even though black was an American and – as far as I know – there was no European correspondence championship at that point.
The preliminaries started in 1947; the final started in 1950 and ended in 1953 with a victory for Purdy. In the preliminaries, Baijot had ended second in his group, right after Purdy.
