The fourth edition of this tournament gathered a couple of strong players. In the first two rounds, the best scoring losers also went through to the next round. I suspect the pairings were done randomly, which led to the final being a repeat of one of the first round pairings.
The results come from [1], but there Antwerp vs. Philidor Leuven from the first round is given as 3-2 with one adjourned game. [2] gives the result as 3-3 so presumably Leuven won this adjourned game. Ties were broken as follows: a victory on the first board was worth 6 points, one on the second board was worth 5, and so on. Here are detailed results as far as I have them. The individual results below obviously do not include the results I don’t have; they don’t include forfeits either. I suspect the Schumacher playing for Philidor Leuven was Helmut Schumacher, who probably studied in Leuven at this time.
