After winning the first two editions, Philidor Leuven was eliminated in the first round, despite fielding more or less the same team. Ties were decided by board points: the first board was worth 6 points, the second 5, and so on. In at least one instance, a remaining tie was decided by the victory on the highest board, so this was probably a general rule.
