Play-Off: Loeffler 1-0 De Proost
This tournament was organised by the Students’ Chess Club in Brussels. Loeffler was leading throughout the tournament, but lost in the last round. This made a play-off necessary. Since the prize-giving ceremony was planned for Sunday, October 31st and since Mrs. De Proost had to work on Sunday morning (as head nurse in the Stuivenberg hospital), the one-game play-off was held only a few hours after the last round, on Saturday evening.
[1] gives complete results, the standings before the last round, and the final standings. These are all compatible, except that the last round game Renoy-De Proost is given as 1-0. This is almost certainly an error, since it would make a play-off unnecessary and it does not fit with the final results. [2] gives the only game I have and the dates (October 16,17,23,24 a 30) in an announcement.
