This was quite an important tournament, bringing together the country’s champion, Lemaire, its only international master, O’Kelly, the champion of the federation from 1949, Van Seters, and Limbos, recently returned from Congo, as well as two strong local players. O’Kelly surprisingly lost against Limbos and had to content himself with a shared second place. Lemaire scored a good victory.
