The two main candidates for the title, CÉ Philidor and Antwerp SK, both won one of their matches. The fact that the Brussels side did not win one of their matches against Ghent decided the competition. The Antwerp top board Dunkelblum and Perlmutter were impressive with 5 and 5½ out of 6 respectively, but Shernetsky managed a 6 out of 6 on board 3.
